The D455 Depth Camera is a stereo-based depth camera for longer distances and higher accuracy than traditional D-series (D435/D435i) and for both indoor and outdoor applications. Both RGB/depth are global shutter type, which enables higher quality 3D scanning. The optimum range of the installed camera is 6 m (maximum depth 20 m), which is longer than that of the conventional model, and the viewing angle is as wide as 86°, which enables developers to design vision-based solutions.

For example, when the D455 is mounted on a moving body such as an autonomous robot, it is necessary to measure and control the behavior dynamically. Equipped with an IMU, depth recognition in all situations, and the D455's eyes (camera's wide field of view and long distance) make it easier to detect changing environments and help to avoid collisions more safely.
