Intel RealSense About Depth Camera D455
D455Depth cameras are stereo-based depth cameras with longer range and higher accuracy than traditional D-series and for both indoor and outdoor applications. Both RGB/depth are global shutter type, which enables higher quality 3D scanning. The optimum range of the installed camera is 6 m (maximum depth 20 m), which is longer than the previous model, and the viewing angle is as wide as 86°, which allows developers to design vision-based solutions.
Example of utilization
As a camera for developers, the D455 can be expected to be used in various applications such as digital signage, volume measurement and healthcare applications as well as robotics.
For example, when mounting the D455 on a moving body such as an autonomous robot, it is necessary to measure and control the behavior dynamically. Equipped with an IMU, depth recognition in all situations, and the D455's eyes (camera's wide field of view and long distance) make it easier to sense the changing environment and help prevent collisions more safely.
