Prototyping tool "Fologram" utilizing mixed reality (MR)

Prototyping tool utilizing mixed reality (MR) on Unipos website fologram Page has been added.

fologramIs an intuitive and interactive prototyping tool that visualizes models (digital designs) created with Rhino and Grasshopper according to the environment and scale, and enables design and prototyping in mixed reality (MR). is.

What is Fologram?

Stream 3D models created with Rhino or Grasshopper to mobile devices connected via WiFi or Hololens (MR headset) to instantly create holographic images.Displayed in mixed reality, digital twins can be easily shared among stakeholders for design and editing.

With Fologram, you can view and share virtual reality on Mixed Reality headsets (HoloLens 1, HoloLens 2) and mobile devices (iOS, Android) as if you were actually there.Since prototypes can be created and shared easily and instantly, they can be used not only by specialists such as engineers, architects, and artists, but also in various situations such as modeling and manufacturing sites.

Examples: Universities, researchers, engineers, architects, artists, designers, manufacturing industries, construction industries (architecture, civil engineering, equipment, infrastructure etc.), manufacturers, etc.

Major features

  • Models can be displayed and shared with one click (via WiFi)
  • Real-time editing of geometry, layers and Grasshopper parameters
  • It is possible to speed up design decision making
  • No coding, export or model preparation required

Example of utilization

Built for the Tallinn Architecture Biennial 2019 held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, the EU (European Union), the three Baltic countries, "Steampunk" was built by Fologram, Zoomeen Hahm Design, Igor Pantic, A pavilion designed and built in collaboration with Format Engineers.

Steampunk's design uses standard length hardwood and bent, twisted and braided stainless steel. In the process of manufacturing these parts, it is necessary to bend a large amount of wood with steam to shape it and position stainless steel, and Fologram is used as a guide (holographic guide).

Fologram was used in every aspect of pavilion manufacturing and assembly.

  • To avoid using low quality timber when arranging 12m long timber
  • Install formwork and steam each wood element to the desired shape
  • Bending 414 unique steel brackets
  • Assembling parts on site and digitizing the completed structure, etc.
