CT scan analysis machine

We are considering a PC for analyzing CT scans taken at Spring-8.
After confirming the recommended specifications of Spring-8, the following information was obtained.

・CPU: Core i9-10980XE
・ Memory: 256GB
・Storage 1: SSD 1TB NVMe
・Storage 2: SSD 8TB x2
・Video: NVIDIA Geforce RTX3060
・OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64bit
・Other: 10Gb LAN card

I would like an estimate with similar content.

Based on your request, we have proposed the following configuration.

【Main Specifications】

CPU Xeon W-2295 (3.00GHz 18 cores)
memory 256GB REG ECC
Storage 1 1TB M.2 SSD
Storage 2 8TB SSD S-ATA x2
video NVIDIA Geforce RTX3060 Ti
network on board (10/100 / 1000Base-T x1 5G x1)
Housing + power supply Middle tower case + 850W
OS Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64bit
Others TPM module
10Gb LAN card

We reviewed the configuration based on the information you provided.
The Core i9-10980XE is virtually discontinued, so it is based on the same generation Xeon-W.

When prioritizing cost reduction, the following two points should be considered.

■ GPU acceleration support on the analysis software side
The PC configuration assuming image analysis can be roughly divided into two types, one for analysis by CPU and the other for GPU acceleration. The GPU you contacted us for the recommended specs is not a high-end model, so I presume that you are considering calculations on the CPU as the main axis.If the CPU is the main calculation, it is possible to reduce the cost by lowering the GPU specs.
■ SSD capacity and speed
SSD is effective when reading and processing a large number of images.
However, if it takes a certain amount of time to analyze one image, it is possible that the rate of speed increase in processing the overall storage speed will be small as a result. In this case, it is possible to reduce costs by using HDDs as storage for data storage.
Also, since it is relatively easy to add storage later, we can consider ways to reduce costs at this point and add more when necessary during actual operations.

The configuration of this case study is based on the conditions given by the customer.
Please feel free to contact us even if you are considering different conditions from what is posted.

■FAQ

・What is Spring-8?
Spring-8 is a large synchrotron radiation facility operated by the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI).A high-energy electron beam is used to generate intense synchrotron radiation, which is used in a wide range of research fields such as material science, biology, chemistry, and physics.
