Machine for CST Studio Suite

A customer involved in the development of precision parts asked us about a PC for electromagnetic field analysis.
The conditions for your request are as follows.

・CPU: Intel Xeon Silver 4310 or higher x2
・Memory: 128GB or more
Storage: Primary 960GB M.2 NVMe, Secondary 960GB M.2 NVMe
Video: On-board video capabilities or a cheap video card for screen display
・GPU: NVIDIA RTX6000 Ada 48GB for calculation
・OS: Windows
・Software used: CST Studio Suite
・Budget: About 250 million yen

In addition to the above conditions, we also receive questions about which is more advantageous in terms of heat resistance between M.2 and U.2 SSDs.

Based on the information we received, we proposed the following configuration.

CPU Xeon Silver 4310 (2.10GHz 12 cores) x2
memory 128GB REG ECC
Storage 1 1TB M.2 SSD
Storage 2 1TB M.2 SSD
video NVIDIA T400 4GB MiniDisplayPort x3
GPU NVIDIA RTX6000Ada
network On Board (1000Base-T X2)
Housing + power supply Tower type housing + 1000W
OS Microsoft Windows 11 Professional 64bit
Others TPM module

When comparing M.2 and U.2 in the same series of SSD products, there are basically no differences in catalog specifications.Although it depends on the manufacturer's policy, it cannot be said unconditionally, but if it is the same series and same capacity product, it is almost always the same contents but the connection method and shape are different.

Regarding heat resistance, U.2 is considered to be more advantageous. In addition to being directly connected to the motherboard, M.2 has a small surface area of the device, so it is disadvantageous in terms of heat dissipation. On the other hand, the fact that it can be directly connected to the motherboard and has a small surface area is also an advantage of M.2.Therefore, please think that the choice is different depending on what you prioritize.

*Our PCs are shipped with a heatsink attached to the M.2 SSD as standard.

The configuration of this case study is based on the conditions given by the customer.
Please feel free to contact us even if you are considering different conditions from what is posted.

・What is CST Studio Suite?
CST Studio Suite is a comprehensive suite of electromagnetic field analysis software. Direct collaboration with 3D design/simulation is possible. It can be applied to a wide range of industries and applications, and is often used in the fields of EMC/EMI, antennas, and electronic equipment/semiconductors.A wide range of simulations is possible based on advanced physical modeling functions and mathematical methods. The advantage is that the calculation time can be shortened by using a high-performance dedicated mesher.
