Pupil Labs' eye tracking deviceNeon”, the design of each frame has been changed starting from February 2024 manufacturer shipments.
Each new frame includes a machined aluminum heatsink. This heatsink improves thermal management and makes wearing the Neon module more comfortable, especially for long periods of time. This design change also adds more rigidity to the frame.
About Neon
A modular eye-tracking device from Pupil Labs.
All the necessary eye-tracking hardware, including a high-speed eye camera, wide-angle scene camera, stereo microphone, and IMU, is housed in a small package "Neon Module" wrapped in water-resistant silicone. This modular design allows for head mounting in a variety of frame shapes, sizes, and styles to suit your research needs.
Neon uses NeonNet, a gaze estimation pipeline that uses deep learning trained on data from various environments and various individuals. Neon requires no setup or calibration, and Pupil Labs' software is built for all users, from no-code to pro-code, making it easy to use in research settings without the need for complex implementation. About the new frame
Below is a comparison photo of the old and new standard frame "Just act natural". The blackish thing on the left of the photo is the new frame, and the slightly grayish thing on the right is the old frame.
Manufacturers offer Neon-specific frames for various applications in which the Neon Module is mounted (the standard frame is Just act natural).
The frames subject to this design change are as follows. There are no changes to each frame size. It is 2-3g heavier due to the heat sink.
