A long-selling Unipos phase equilibrium database of materials necessary for research and design in the fields of materials science and engineering.ACerS-NIST Phase Equilibria Diagrams Database"New version of"version 5.2“has been released.
ACerS-NIST Phase Equilibria Diagrams Database?
Developed as a joint project between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the American Ceramics Society (ACerS), it is the largest collection of data on the composition, phase structure, and phase transition temperature of inorganic materials. PHASE is collected from critically appraised literature dating back to 1898.
Available material systems
- Oxide systems and mixed systems containing oxides such as electrodes, catalysts, electroceramics, magnetoresistives, thermistors, capacitors, nuclear fuel/waste, ionic conductors, etc.
- Chalcogenides such as sulfides and selenides used in thermoelectronics, optoelectronics, solar power generation, etc.
- Pnictide-based materials such as nitrides and arsenic used in optical materials, sensors, detectors, solar power generation, etc.
- Actinides and rare earths including U, Th, Pu, Ce, Eu, and Gd (for nuclear material research, luminescence, etc.)
- Oxycations such as molybdates and vanadates
- Semiconductors – Si, Ge, Sn
- Group 3 elements – B, Al, Ga, In, Tl
- Group 4 elements – carbides, high-temperature silicides
- Glass-based – silicates, borosilicate
- salts and minerals
Main uses
The ACerS-NIST Phase Equilibria Diagrams Database is widely used for the design, development, and manufacturing process optimization of ceramics and inorganic materials. By using this database, you can do the following:
- Understanding material interactions: Evaluate and deepen understanding of temperature-dependent interactions between ceramics and inorganic materials
- Material design and development: Design and develop new ceramics and inorganic materials based on correlation data
- Prediction of material properties: Predict material properties and behavior from phase diagram data
- Material process optimization: Optimize and improve manufacturing processes by understanding the interrelationships of materials
In addition, these utilization methods are useful not only for developing new materials and improving existing materials, but also for product quality control and quality assurance activities. Furthermore, investigating and understanding the phase diagram of ceramics is another important use of this database.
