Electromagnetic field analysis/machine learning machine

A customer involved in electrical and electronic engineering research inquired about introducing a PC for electromagnetic field analysis.
Specific applications include electromagnetic field analysis using ANSYS Lumerical FDTD and image analysis and machine learning in MATLAB using the Parallel Computing Toolbox.
In addition, MATLAB is designed to use GPUs, and there has been a demand for high-performance GPUs.
My budget is about 130 million yen, and I would like a configuration with Windows OS pre-installed.

Taking the above conditions into consideration, we proposed the following configuration:

CPU Intel Xeon W5-2465X (3.10GHz 16 cores)
memory 128GB REG ECC (32GB x4)
storage 2TB SSD M.2 NVMe Gen4
Video NVIDIA Geforce RTX4090 24GB
network on board (2.5GbE x1 /10GbE x1)
Housing + power supply Tower type housing + 1500W
OS Microsoft Windows 11 Professional 64bit

Parts configuration according to the software used

We adopted the "Xeon W5-2465X 16-core" CPU to suit your budget.

The memory is 32GB x 4 for a total of 128GB. There are four free memory slots, so you can add more memory later.

The GPU used is the high-end model "NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4090," which offers excellent cost performance. It has the highest processing performance of any video card currently on the market, so we can expect excellent results from MATLAB machine learning.

ANSYSGPU precautions when using

The customer contacted us to say that they wanted to use a GPU for image analysis and machine learning using MATLAB, but the software they use, ANSYS Lumerical FDTD, does not support the Geforce series such as the NVIDIA Geforce RTX4090. However, if they were to change the GPU to a higher-end NVIDIA RTX series model supported by ANSYS, it would significantly exceed their budget.

We explained the above situation to the customer and adjusted the PC configuration. As a result, we concluded that in this case, we would prioritize high-speed GPU calculations in MATLAB and not focus on drawing operations in ANSYS. Therefore, we proposed a configuration that uses the "NVIDIA Geforce RTX4090".

The configuration of this case study is based on the conditions given by the customer.
Please feel free to contact us even if you are considering different conditions from what is posted.

・What is Lumerical FDTD?
Lumerical FDTD is electromagnetic field analysis software using the finite difference time domain method. It is possible to analyze three-dimensional structures in a wide frequency range, and it is possible to consider complex media and various materials. The FDTD method enables high-speed broadband frequency analysis, enabling phase and S-parameter acquisition. The incident wave is abundant and the open boundary is realized by PML.Intuitive operability with support for output formats and circuit connections. It is used for research and development in the fields of microwaves, optical communications, and photonics.
