A customer involved in molecular cell biology research contacted us to inquire about installing a workstation.
The main purpose of use will be to analyze fluorescence microscope images and create presentation materials, so the client is looking for 128GB of memory, two or more HDDs (SSDs), and a video card suitable for image analysis.
The software used is Fiji/ImageJ, GraphPad Prism, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and MATLAB, and the budget is within 100 million yen.
I have also heard that they plan to use other image analysis software such as IMARIS, Neurolucida, and ZEISS arivis.
Based on your requests, we have provided you with the following configuration:
CPU | Intel Xeon W5-2455X 3.20GHz (3.0GHz at TB4.60) 12C/24T |
memory | Total 128GB DDR5 4800 REG ECC 32GB x 4 |
Storage 1 | 1TB SSD M.2 NVMe Gen4 |
Storage 2 | 4TB SSD S-ATA |
Video | NVIDIA RTX A4000 16GB (DisplayPort x4) |
network | on board (1GbE x1 /10GbE x1) |
Housing + power supply | Middle tower type housing + 850W |
OS | Microsoft Windows 11 Professional 64bit |
We created a quote. Since we plan to use IMARIS, we considered a configuration based on the IMARIS machine provided by Tegsys.
IMARIS is an image analysis software and is also suitable for other software applications.
The CPU and video card were determined based on the configuration that IMARIS would run on and the budget. IMARIS does not support GeForce, so a video card for a workstation is required. The RTX A4000 installed is a mid-range product, and has sufficient performance for drawing 2D images. Unless you are manipulating large-scale 3D models, this will not be a problem in most situations.
■ KeywordsWhat is Imaris? IMARIS is an advanced image analysis software for biological and medical research, providing visualization and analysis of 2D, 3D and 4D microscopy images, with intuitive workflows, AI-powered object detection and GPU-accelerated deconvolution. |
