DeepLabCut machine (December 2024 version)

A customer involved in forest research enquired about a PC that would enable them to comfortably run DeepLabCut, Metashape, R and QGIS.
The priority of the software used is R, QGIS, DeepLabCut, and Metashape. The software must be able to withstand long periods of continuous use.
In terms of specific specifications, the customer requested a network card that supports 10GbE and a second HDD of 4TB or more that they could replace themselves later.

Taking these conditions into consideration, we proposed the following specifications:

CPU Intel Xeon W5-2565X 3.20GHz (up to 3.0GHz at TB4.8) 18C/36T
memory Total 256GB DDR5 5600 REG ECC 64GB x 4
Storage 1 2TB SSD M.2 NVMe Gen4
Storage 2 4TB HDD S-ATA
Video NVIDIA Geforce RTX4090 24GB
network on board (2.5GbE x1 /10GbE x1)
Housing + power supply Middle tower case + 1500W
OS Microsoft Windows 11 Professional 64bit

GPU performance is important for DeepLabCut

We selected a CPU and GPU that fits your budget, with an emphasis on using DeepLabCut. GPU performance is important for DeepLabCut, so a model with 8GB or more of video memory is recommended. For this reason, we chose the top model of the GeForce series, the RTX4090 24GB.

Please note that this configuration does not include the installation of DeepLabCut. Please let us know if you would like to install it.

CPU and memory limits

The CPU is the Core i9-14900K, and the memory capacity is 128GB. Please note that this CPU specification does not allow for any additional memory expansion.

Metashape requires different specifications depending on the processing content.

For Metashape, the memory capacity required varies depending on the number of images to be processed, their resolution, size, and processing quality. Please refer to the URL below to check if there are any problems with the processing content and installed memory capacity.
