A customer involved in ecological research contacted us seeking a PC for performing metabolomic analysis based on shotgun sequencing.
Since they plan to use software such as HMMER, they would like a configuration with a large memory capacity.
Based on your request, we have proposed the following configuration.
CPU | Intel Xeon W5-2565X 3.20GHz (up to 3.0GHz at TB4.8) 18C/36T |
memory | Total 128GB DDR5 5600 REG ECC 32GB x 4 |
storage | 2TB SSD M.2 NVMe Gen4 |
Video | NVIDIA RTX A400 4GB (MiniDisplayPort x4) |
network | on board (2.5GbE x1 /10GbE x1) |
Housing + power supply | Mid-tower case 1000W 80PLUS PLATINUM |
OS | Ubuntu 24.04 |
This configuration is equipped with an 5-core Xeon W2565-18X CPU.
In order to stay within the budget, the memory capacity is configured as 128GB (32GB x 4).
There are four free memory slots, so you can add four 4GB modules of the same size as the existing memory to increase the total memory to 32GB. Having more memory than necessary will not contribute to the calculation speed, but if the memory capacity is insufficient, the calculation speed will drop significantly. Therefore, we recommend that you check the memory capacity required for actual calculations when considering it.
■ Keywords・What is HMMER? HMMER is free software for sequence analysis.Homologous protein or nucleotide sequences are identified and a sequence alignment performed. |
