A researcher in the field of environmental and natural sciences contacted us to discuss the possibility of implementing a high-speed computing environment using the optical simulation software "RSoft DiffractMOD (RCWA)."
The client wanted a configuration that would allow for the parallel execution of multiple jobs, and was looking for a workstation that prioritized computational efficiency.
The maximum budget is around 100 million yen.

CPU and memory configuration

Based on these requirements, we proposed a configuration suitable for parallel processing and large-scale calculations, combining the Intel Xeon 6521P (24 cores/48 threads) with 5GB of DDR5600-256 ECC Registered memory.

About GPU

RSoft DiffractMOD is analysis software based on the RCWA method, and is CPU-dependent, so GPU performance affects processing speed.Do not.
Therefore, we chose the low-end NVIDIA RTX A400 (4GB) to balance rendering stability and cost.

Future expansion

If you are considering introducing the optical analysis software "FullWAVE FDTD," you will need to select a GPU based on the official recommended specifications.
If you are considering introducing FDTD, please consult us in advance so that we can introduce you to a system that can accommodate an expansion of applications.
