We received a consultation from a customer about a machine for bioinformatics, especially next-generation sequencer analysis.
The budget is about 4 million yen, with the basic condition being a configuration equipped with a 120TB SSD that has expandability in the future. I would like a configuration that can mainly handle next-generation sequencer analysis using Cell Ranger, STAR, bowtie2, etc., and downstream analysis / chart creation using R, etc.
In addition, since there is a possibility of machine learning, we are also requesting the installation of a GPU.
Based on your budget and other conditions, our proposal uses Ryzen Threadripper.
The memory is 256GB, which is the maximum capacity of this configuration, and the ECC module is adopted.If cost is important, you can change to a regular DIMM without ECC function.
Also, since we have a plan for machine learning, we have installed RTX3080 as a GPU.
Using Cell Ranger, STAR, bowtie2, etc. does not require any special drawing ability, so you can reduce the cost by replacing it with a cheaper video card.
